Hey guys! It's that time of the week again, and today's blog is about our photoshoot in Central London! We love this city so much and it has so much history and beauty and at the same time spots that are gritty and raw. So on 21 May 2023 we decided to take to the streets of Central London for a photoshoot, with the idea of having the streets of our beloved city as our scenery, and the result couldn't have been better! With us were photographers Marilia Muniz (@mariliammnz), Cinema graduate specializing in photography, and Matheo Bueno (@matheobuenofoto), photography and makeup specialist. So let's show you a little bit of it, how it went down, and tell you a little about the places in Central London we went to.
We met at around midday at Charing Cross Station. From there we went to meet the photographers at Trafalgar Square, where we started our photoshoot. Let's tell you a little bit about Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar Square was created in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. The Square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, the British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar. The 169-foot (52 m) Nelson's Column at its centre is guarded by four lion statues. Prominent buildings facing the square include the National Gallery, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Canada House, and South Africa House.
The square has been used for community gatherings and political demonstrations, including Bloody Sunday in 1887, anti-war protests and campaigns against climate change.
From Trafalgar Square we made our way down to Parliament Square, at the northwest end of the Palace of Westminster.
As well as being one of London's main tourist attractions, it is also a place where many demonstrations and protests have been held. The square is overlooked by various official buildings including the Houses of Parliament. It was fun getting in line with the tourists and interacting with them as we waited to take pictures by touristic spots. From there we crossed Westminster Bridge and headed towards the South Bank. The South Bank is an entertainment and commercial district on the south bank of the River Thames. It forms a significant arts and entertainment district. The Southbank Centre comprises the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Hayward Gallery, The Royal National Theatre and so on. And even though it is a really fancy area there are also some really gritty and raw locations in it, and we chose some of those as locations for our shots there.
And after we were done on the South Bank, we made our way up to Soho by tube via the Northern Line. Soho is an area of the City of Westminster, originally a fashionable district for the aristocracy, it has been one of the main entertainment districts in the capital since the 19th century. Soho's reputation as a major entertainment district of London stems from theatres such as the Windmill Theatre on Great Windmill Street and the Raymond Revuebar, and music clubs such as the 2i's Coffee Bar, the St. Moritz Club, The Spice Of Life and the Marquee Club. Trident Studios was based in Soho, and the nearby Denmark Street has hosted numerous music publishing houses and instrument shops from the 20th century onwards.
At that point we had over 200 pictures taken, our work was done and we were ready for a drink! It was an amazing experience for us, and the result could not have been better. We wanted to capture the vibes of the streets of London, and that's exactly what this photoshoot did. You can see some of the photos on this blog, and many others soon to be published on out website, social media, also with our EP artwork and so on.
