Hey guys! Hope you’re all rocking and doing well.
Today’s blog is about July & August: three festivals and a London show - our biggest and best shows, and our busiest months yet!
Let’s tell you about each of them.
Starting with the Thamesmead Festival!
The festival took place in the lovely Southmere Park, with the main stage where we performed looking over Southmere Lake.
Mouthwatering culinary creativity could also be found in abundance from vendors like Yeti’s Authentic Kitchen offering the best of home-cooked Nigerian cuisine, to ZIZI’s delicious variety of Lebanese and Sierra Leonean food.
Our best and biggest show yet in terms of audience, the sheer size of the stage, the quality of the equipment we were using, the crew that was supporting us, etc.
Following that, we did one of our traditional appearances at The Good Mixer in Camden Town!
It was an amazing night right in the heart of Camden, at an amazing venue with an amazing crowd.
Check out their website thegoodmixer.co.uk:
“Built on the bomb site of the original pub during the 1950s, The Mixer got its name from the cement mixer that was absent-mindedly trapped in the cellar during its construction.
Unable to move it, the cement mixer was buried underground and thus, the Good Mixer was born!
The pub was where the band Elastica signed with Deceptive Records, where Menswe@r are said to have formed and, in later years, Amy Winehouse was often seen playing a game of pool with the blinds closed to avoid the paparazzi.
Today the pub maintains its laid back, good time vibes that made it famous and continues to be the go to Camden pub for live music and a game of pool. They pride themselves on offering a platform for grassroots musicians and for being one of the only live music venues in London with a free entry for all policy, 7 days a week.
Famously, the pub was the setting for the opening blow in the Oasis vs Blur feud where on meeting Graham Coxon for the first time, Noel Gallagher reportedly said: “Nice music. Shit clothes!”
And it was in this legendary venue that our show took place. It’s a really good pub anyone visiting Camden must see.".
Following that, we had the honour to perform in one of the most prestigious blues rock festivals in the UK: The Great British R&B Festival!!
In the lovely town of Colne in Lancashire, in a warm August bank holiday, people flooding the streets and some of the best musicians in the UK will be performing the very best of rock, rhythm and blues in the several stages of the weekend long event.
Check out their website (bluesfestival.co.uk) for more information about the festival:
“... Taking place for the 33rd time in 2024, prepare yourselves for three incredible days of live music across the beautiful little town of Colne in East Lancashire.
Our world famous, award winning festival returns with three fantastic venues in 2024 which will showcase the very best of blues music in the UK right now, as well as the most exciting emerging talent both locally and around the UK.
With family fun entertainment also taking place throughout the August Bank Holiday Weekend, we can’t wait to welcome you to Bonny Colne Upon The Hill…”.
And finally we played at the Ruskin Park Bandstand Summer Festival! The park’s Bandstand Season features some of the best up and coming bands and musicians in London throughout the summer.
Ruskin Park is a beautiful and large Edwardian-era park located in London between Camberwell, Brixton and Herne Hill, the perfect place to enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon.
And that’s when we made our appearance at the park’s bandstand, playing for a crowd of young couples, families, older gentlemen enjoying some rock n roll, and young children dancing to the sound of the drums. It was a particularly interesting event for us.
We played some of the songs from our upcoming EP in all of the shows. All of these events were simply amazing! Most of them were free entry, and some of them open to all ages. Our best and biggest shows and our busiest months yet!
That’s how July and August went for us. A big thank you to all those who in one way or another supported us! Keep an eye out for new shows soon to be announced.
And as I’m sure you’ve heard, we are currently preparing our second studio release: a brand new EP, with the first single to be released within the next few months.
Our first studio album was an absolute success, with results and feedback from the public much better than expected, and if you haven't already don't forget to check it out on all digital platforms: Black Wolf Blues.
And now a couple of years later, a lot of hard work and preparation has been put into this EP, with some of the songs having been in the works for years, now finally ready to be released.
Our EP will consist of 5 songs in total, but they will be released in singles, with the first one set to be released in a few months.
Recording technology has evolved immensely in the last two decades, giving many independent artists the opportunities that once only big studios and labels could offer.
Our guitarist Jake is also a certified music producer, fresh out of one of the best music universities in London, and he will be in charge of the recording and production of our EP.
Taking all of this combined with the amazing creative output we have been getting from our new line up, and all the beautiful material that has been coming out of it, means that this EP is only the second of many releases yet to come.
One thing that really amazed me personally and that became one of the funnest parts of the whole thing was the writing and recording process.
The writing and recording process we established is better than ever! And on top of it all, the dynamic we established between us as band members during the writing process and during the planning of this recording project as a whole is something that finished closing the bonds between us as a band.
We are really excited and working on this project every single day, it will really blow your minds.
As an independent band we need all the support we can get, so we are running a crowdfunding campaign to help us fund the recording of our EP and make it as awesome as possible for you!
If you'd like to contribute with any amount just head on over to our website or Linktree and you will find the link to the crowdfunding there.
Check out our Instagram, Facebook and YouTube for some of our videos, pictures and exclusive content.
New videos and pictures are uploaded to our YouTube channel every week, so don't forget to like and subscribe so that you don't miss out on new content weekly.
We also publish a new blog every two months, and our next one is going to go deeper into our EP and other shows. So stay tuned and rock on and have an amazing week!
