Hey guys!
It's that time of the week again, and today's blog is about Black Wolf Blues’ photoshoot with Jen Thornton in Greenwich.
Jen Thornton is an amazing photographer we’re happy to be working with in a number of projects. Check out her work on Instagram @jenslivemusicphotography!
So let’s tell you a little about how the photoshoot went.
We all met at The Trafalgar Inn on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and started off with some pictures at the Old Royal Naval College!
The Old Royal Naval College is the architectural centrepiece of Maritime Greenwich, a World Heritage Site in Greenwich, London, described by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as being of "outstanding universal value" and reckoned to be the "finest and most dramatically sited architectural and landscape ensemble in the British Isles".
This was originally the site of Bella Court, built by Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, and subsequently renamed Palace of Placentia by Margaret of Anjou upon its confiscation. Rebuilt by Henry VII, it was thenceforth more commonly known as Greenwich Palace.
As such, it was the birthplace of Tudor monarchs Henry VIII, Mary I, and Elizabeth I, and reputedly the favourite palace of Henry VIII.
In 1692 the Royal Hospital for Seamen at Greenwich was created on the site on the instructions of Mary II, who had been inspired by the sight of wounded sailors returning from the Battle of La Hogue.
In 1873, four years after the hospital closed, the buildings were converted to a training establishment for the Royal Navy.
Since 1998, the site has had new life breathed into it through a mix of new uses and activities and a revival of the historic old site under the management and control of the Greenwich Foundation.
The architecture of the buildings provided an amazing background for the pictures, and we got some really amazing shots!
From there we went to the classic records store Casbah Records! (check them out on casbahrecords.co.uk).
Casbah Records is South-East London’s premier independent record shop.
They are choc-full to the brim with top quality new and vintage vinyl, new cds, dvds, books, comics and t-shirts. They may also be one of the last shops in London to stock 8-track cartridges, plus listening facilities for them!
They cover everything from R.N.R, R.N.B, surf, soul, prog rock, folk, rock, blues, reggae, jazz, afrobeat, psychedelia to hip-hop, punk, indie and electronica.
They take a keen interest in contemporary music and have a great selection of new releases on vinyl and cd plus all the classic and hard to find reissues.
This is an amazing record shop you have to go to if you like music!
We took some really good pictures there too, and we even recorded videos of each of us with our top three record picks, which were featured in a series of blogs and reels.
You can check more of the pictures from the shoot on our socials and website!
And that’s that guys, keep an eye out for more photos coming out soon.
We have a few very special things in store for you in November.
We have done an amazing live studio recording, and we have been rehearsing for our acoustic busking sessions coming up around London, all as part of a campaign to raise money for the world renowned charity War Child UK in partnership with Hot Vox.
War Child is the only specialist charity for children affected by wars and conflicts around the world. For more than two decades, they’ve been driven by a single goal – ensuring a safe future for every child living through war.
They aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out and support them long after the cameras have gone.
They deliver life-changing services and support in communities affected by conflicts to keep children safe and help them to heal and learn for the chance of a better future.
And it is for this world renowned charity, alongside Hot Vox, that will be working on a fundraiser in the next few weeks!
Donations will be made possible online in a few days, as well as at the busking sessions, which will take place around Central London from mid November to early December, these are free performances open to all ages.
So if you can please donate to this worthy cause.
We really appreciate your support!
