Hello guys!
It's that time of the week again, and today's blog is about our frontman Rafael's top three picks at Casbah Records!
We have recently done our latest photoshoot in Greenwich with Jenny Thornton, check out Jenny's work on Instagram @jenslivemusicphotography)! And as a part of that photoshoot we went to Casbah Records, a charming vintage records store, and as well as a few shots each of us also recorded a video with our top three picks at the store.
These videos will be released weekly and this week's video as published on our socials was Rafael`s! So let's dig a little deeper and get to know a little more about those albums.
First let’s tell you a little about Casbah Records (check them out on casbahrecords.co.uk).
Casbah Records is South-East London’s premier independent record shop.
They are choc-full to the brim with top quality new and vintage vinyl, new CDs, DVDs, books, comics and t-shirts. They may also be one of the last shops in London to stock 8-track cartridges, plus listening facilities for them!
They cover everything from R.N.R, R.N.B, surf, soul, prog rock, folk, rock, blues, reggae, jazz, afrobeat, psychedelia to hip-hop, punk, indie and electronica.
They take a keen interest in contemporary music and have a great selection of new releases on vinyl and cd plus all the classic and hard to find reissues.
This is an amazing record shop you have to go to if you like music!
Now on to Rafael’s top three picks there:
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED
Are You Experienced is the debut studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Released in 1967, the LP was an immediate critical and commercial success, and it is widely regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. The album features Jimi Hendrix's innovative approach to songwriting and electric guitar playing which soon established a new direction in psychedelic and rock music as a whole music.
MORRISON HOTEL
Morrison Hotel is the fifth studio album by American rock band The Doors, released on February 9, 1970, by Elektra Records. After the use of brass and string arrangements recommended by producer Paul A. Rothchild on their previous album, The Soft Parade (1969), the Doors returned to their blues rock style and this album was largely seen as a return to form for the band.
FOLK SINGER
Folk Singer is the fourth studio album by Muddy Waters, released in January 1964 by Chess Records. The album features Waters on acoustic guitar, backed by Willie Dixon on string bass, Clifton James on drums, and Buddy Guy on acoustic guitar. It is Waters's only all-acoustic album.
And that's it guys! This is the second of a series of blogs about our members top finds at Casbah Records, stay tuned for more.
